I tried out sitting in the seat with my helmet on and it's pretty much sex. I have about 3/4 of a finger's width of clearance to the ceiling. Bloody sunroof version haha. Nissan y u so stupid!?

Off to Dvs tuning in the morning... I think the ecu hates me. The car would run happily for about a minute, then cough and splutter to a stop. Hopefully it's just because of some error codes that the injectors and maf are throwing. Nistune should fix that, and some tuning expertise.

Got the car up to Dvs tuning this morning just waiting on the nistune board to show up then in for a run in.

Is that on E85 or 98? What size rear housing on that?

That's on 98. I don't know what size housing it is its just a generic slide ind gt2871 sorry. But I'll definitely be looking into a bigger, better quality turbo. So much lag for its size. Full boost at 4500rpm but the turbo smart goodies hold it steady up to 7700rpm

With the graph looking like it does, it seems to be a 0.86 rear housing. Not a good match at all for the compressor. It does make OK power but you can have that power without the lag with the 0.64 rear housing. A simple housing swap would 'wake' it up a lot. Might lose 5-10rwk but you'll gain at least 500rpm of response. Think hard about your next turbo and how much power you want as it may require a change to your whole set-up ie manifold, dump, intake, cooler pipes etc.

Yeah cheers for that man. I took it for a little drive down my road and wow the lag has lag on top of the laggy lag lag. But the power is ok. Definitely I'll be wise about my next choice. And it will definitely be a ball bearing turbo

I should also say that the massive cams (272's ?) would not help the response at all. That we warned you about! lol

Lol I knew about that! I only planned to use the turbo cause it was cheap, and I didn't do enough research. My bad. But I guess I just have to drive it high up in the rev range for now.

Future plans now include: Bigger turbo, better coils, higher revs(up to 8500rpm or 8700rpm) and only one boost setting so one doesn't affect the other with the fuel maps.

A slightly smaller intake cam will help with response and some adjustable cam gears. But turbo housing like mentioned will give the biggest change.

I have adjustable cam gears in already so the next time I go for a tune, with the larger turbo and better coils, we will have a play with them

So the clutch decided to weld itself to the pressure plate today :/

Got it all out and cleaned it up and back in in a few hours.

Anyone recommend a good clutch disc that will take drift punishment? The brass ceramic clutch disc gets too hot I think with the clutch kicking...

Lol no more second gear. It broke mid drift with little warning... Time to grab a z32 box and shove it in.

i know this may sound stupid but how were you shifting or driving at the time of 2nd gear breaking?

did you just cluck kick it while in 2nd and it went bang or shifted into 2nd and put the power down then it went bang?

Not stupid sounding at all lol. Well the box was whining a bit through the morning after a hard Saturday and when it actually went pop, I was actually mid drift just with my foot down. Then it went bang and the gears were grinding.

A while later I decided to go back out and just used 1st and after a while I think 2nd was ground up finely as it was a lot quieter.

Love the tire rack my dad and I made up, sits heaps low with probably 2.5in between the bonnet and the tyres. Towes pretty bad though, can't drive in 6th gear because of the air resistance above say 90km/h

So last night I pulled the gearbox off the car!! And to never be put in another car lol. I'm gonna chop the input shaft to use as a clutch aligning tool. Also, I pulled the gearbox apart to look at the damage. It's safe to say that there is no second gear cluster gear anymore. And second gear is a bit rooted too. Also, the cluster gear drive is chipped in a couple of places.

Gearbox out

So at work today there's nothing for me to do, so I'm starting to make the aligning tool for the cut and shut for the z32 box. It's pretty much just a piece of pipe bolted to the input shaft bearing carrier. I'll have pics soon.

Here's the aligning tool I made up

And the mounting point for it in the bearing carrier

Just gotta get it on the milling machine to measure it up, then make a plate to bolt the flange to.

Picked up an r33 4.11:1 diff and a z32 tailshaft today :) should be getting some stuff done soon. And should be picking up a z32 g/box next week. Then the cut and shut may commence. Then I need some new uni joints and make a new tailshaft.

Somehow in my head over the weekend at wtac I decided that I want 400rwkw... Don't really know why but maybe just cause I can with this motor. It's not gonna happen straight away though because I need to upgrade the fuel and ignition system and obviously the turbo. MAAAD

WTAC does that... makes you want things you don't really need!

Precision 6262 is a great turbo for what you want. If you have an open budget; FP HTA or Garrett 3582 will get you there.
