The Life of Luko's 180

Recommended Posts

Stole intro from new members section

Hi all, I'm known by the name of Luko and live in the hills of SA

I've got my hands on this 180, it looks a bit rough and has a defect right now so over the next few weeks I'm going to clean it up and register it.

I bought the car off a friend who tried to put a 200 front on it, and got defected for it being too low, and then rear ended a van at 40kph. It has a kit on it but I want to take it back to stock and do my own thing.

I have plans for a 5 stud conversion and some mild upgrades, would love a heap of kw's. I'm interested in getting out to Mallala too.

1995 180sx blacktop. 11xxxxkms.

I'm looking forward to making a build thread very soon, and no doubt I have plenty of questions that need answers - this is my first import and modding opportunity.

Thanks guys!

So as of right now, I don't really know what I'm doing.

It's gonna be 3 weeks before it can go into Regency, and I'll be in Thailand, so see what happens.

Chuckin' on the Gktech intercooler.

Apart from their own bracket not fitting their intercooler, it's bloody wicked.

Found a hole at the top under the boot

and it was huge

so we're gonna do some temporary filling up to keep it happy

Taking the 13b out of this to chuck into the Datto Ute too :D

Do you have to trim the bumper much to fit the gktech cooler?

Yeah, but not too much.

If you do it neat and straight, it looks pretty legit. But from the stock bumper, there is about 2 inches or so that you need to cut just on the bottom.

Cooler is best fit I've seen so far. Only reason brackets didn't fit was a snapped off bolt in the hole they use. Welding was easier.

Don't be gay say G'day people!

I meant the top bracket, rember how we had to file both the holes a couple mm. It was no biggie.

Have to get this car through regency soon.

Just need to fill up that hole, hopefully on the weekend and get a stock steering wheel, and maybe wheels too - 18's are too big.

That's one way to put it, but it kinda feels like I've got too much of everything going on, and it's zapping all of my money.

Just want to get one thing finished.

Rx7 was bought just for the motor, so I guess I'm gonna start trying to get rid of it. It's a bloody clean shell now-little bits of rust, but has no interior, ie; cracked dash, ripped seats, stained everything. If anyone's interested, it's quite cheap... ;)

The Gktech cooler clearance. Pretty shnazzy

So right now, I'm just waiting for the filler to harden, so I can sand and paint and reassemble the whole bloody car again :D

So once it was hard, just sanded the hell out of everything, until it was kind of in place

And then painted it...

Quite a professional workspace I reckon

Managed to get it all back together. Considering it was completely apart for 8 weeks or so, I had my doubts that I'd be able not to lose stuff or not end up with an extra screw.

Went well.

This is the first time I've tried to fix any rust and used filler etc, and I'm stoked on the result.

There's no way you can notice it, especially it being under the boot. I'm just happy it's all out and fixed.
