Royzie 0 Posted August 26, 2011 (edited) Was tossing up whether or not to put up a build because progress has been slow. But i thought it will probably give me initiative to keep it going if i had a build thread. The first car i built was my turbo b18c hatch It was fun but was issue after issue and was starting to cost an arm and a leg. Also i invested that much time, effort and money into it, so as soon as i ended up on the track i was too chicken shit to push hard. I didn't want to wrap it around a tree or sport the bill for the 4 hour tow home back to hervey bay from lakeside. Always been a fan of building and not buying but this came up for a bargain so i picked it up for $3000 Stock sr20det Intercooler oil cooler Power fc w/ boost controller 3" tbe hks rs gauges boost / oil temp / oil pressure / egt racetech fixed seat sabelt 6 point harness Harness bar fire extinguisher fuel pressure regulator of some sort bosch fuel up of some sort greddy catch can R33 gtst brakes 2871 z32 700cc injectors exedy ceramic button Volk emu 17x8 17x9 RSRs Nick Reeves photography, Hit that guy up https://www.facebook...evesPhotography Edited July 14, 2013 by Royzie
jonesl 0 Posted August 27, 2011 Always amazed how small the civic's radiator is =p
horrace 1 Posted August 27, 2011 Nice one, your doing it right! Actually driving the thing and learning and building all at once. Too man people go all out on a car before they even drive it.
Royzie 0 Posted August 27, 2011 Thanks I didn't want to drive it at a track until i got it tuned. Old owner said it was tuned on octane booster and i really didnt want to run it. Instead of getting it tuned then do bolt ons and re tune again, i thought id do it all before i drive it the first time. Will be binning the octane booster and running 100 octane avgas
Royzie 0 Posted October 15, 2012 (edited) Forgot i had this thread.. Wow its been over 12 months. Had the car tuned and made a bulletproof 300hp at the hubs and ditched avgas idea when i decided to register it. Made it out to lakeside last weekend for its first time After a spin in my first hot lap i realized it drives completely different to the civic and i got a little cautious after that Session 1 was a write off because my exhaust snapped a couple hangers and i had to do some ziptie repairs forgot to turn my gopro on but will get footage off a mate from his rear facing gopro Session 2 gave me a 1:08 which i wasn't too stoked with but was happy about a cleaner session http://youtu.be/6XoGnW4jDqk Session 3 felt better but was copping a lot of traffic. after a red flag helped me position myself better in the field my very last lap got me a 1:05.8 which i am super happy with. Just a facebook video of the last lap but the whole session is uploading now. https://www.facebook...151232467305862 Will go back next time (hopefully midweek sprints at the end of november or street sprints start of december) with sway bars to hopefully fix a little but of understeer i was getting and a bit more preparation. Don't want to do any aero until i start struggling to go faster. Next on the cards will be sway bars / new bushes / half cage / 5 stud. Just keeping my eye out for any bargains Edited October 15, 2012 by Royzie

Royzie 0 Posted October 27, 2012 Thanks guys 33 gtst brake conversion is in the works at the moment. Just redrilled the fronts for 4 stud until i find some s14 hubs, rears were bolt in though. Obviously new pads a rotors before i race next. Also have whiteline f&r swaybars, 33 gtst master cylinder and HEL brake lines to go on before december. Royzie 0 Posted November 13, 2012 Brakes, sway bars and crushco cage in. Got my ebc yellow stuff pads just seeing how funds are looking if i can afford to replace rotors with them. I know i SHOULD but i am broke as a joke and there is still plenty of meat left in the old ones

sc s15 10 Posted December 14, 2012 Definitely heaps more time in it. Much better to work up to a fast lap time than end up in the wall, especially at Lakeside. Are you heel and toeing on the downshifts? I doesn't look/sound like it from the vid.
Royzie 0 Posted December 15, 2012 Nuh not enough tallent at the moment. Does it make much difference?
Nick Christensen 0 Posted December 15, 2012 (edited) it feels more secure coming into the corner when down shifting because you can grab the gear quick (dropping the clutch) instead of releasing the clutch slowly hoping it doesnt compression lock. good for a hard entry into eastern loop with my diff ratio as im downshifting after my initial turn in point @5:10 i have a brain fade while cruising and shift into 3rd without heel toe. being not used to it it locks the rears straight away http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dvgSDwISLz0&list=UU4ouUoRcUuj9eE1ybolHXUg&index=3 Edited December 15, 2012 by Nick Christensen
Royzie 0 Posted December 15, 2012 Ahh i see. most times hard into hungry i was getting compression lock. ill try that next time i'm out
Nick Christensen 0 Posted December 15, 2012 also check my youtube for a video called "test", it shows the pedal box video aswell for any tips and tricks, i'm only a noob to rl car racing so don't think my word is gospel
sc s15 10 Posted December 16, 2012 Yep. Nicks onto it. You can practice doing it when you're just cruising around on the street. Get used to blipping the throttle while you're braking. Makes heaps of difference under hard braking.
Royzie 0 Posted December 16, 2012 Thanks for the advice gents. I'm all ears if you spot any other imperfections in my driving. hoping for a 62 on street treads and no aero before getting a wing / splitter and semis happening
Royzie 0 Posted December 29, 2012 Got impatient / bored and wanted to do a cheap and easy mod so i knocked up a trail splitter today Next day off i will attach the air dam and add a bit more structural bracing too it and i'm laughing. Once it's painted it wont look so obnoxious
Royzie 0 Posted January 7, 2013 Just about done the splitter, couple more coats of paint and she'll be set. Now i just need a wing
Nick Christensen 0 Posted January 7, 2013 what did you use for your air dam?

scooby36 2 Posted January 7, 2013 feels pretty damn good to be pioneering silvia racing in QLD, making it known that its achievable with only a mild budget to come and get amongst it. Busting myths, proving that its not necessary to spend big dollars to meet the thick and picky rulebooks of CAMS and IPRA
Royzie 0 Posted January 7, 2013 Haha callum you knobber Air dam was just normal garden edging and some L brackets on the rear screwed into splitter. The issue is i cant take the front bar off or on with air dam attached so i had to have the bolts sticking outwards of the L bracket which looks aids but means i can remove the air dam to rip the front bar off without having to take the splitter off. I wanted to make the splitter completely stand off from the front bar. It isn't attached to it and it's such a snug fit it saves me having to put all 1,000,000 nuts and bolts back into mounting the front bar again
Royzie 0 Posted January 7, 2013 BUT i will give cal credit.. I swear i harass that mofo twice a day with questions. Without his words of wisdom my splitter would be mounted with dental floss, my brakes would fade, my sway bars would be completely wrong, if i ever used my tow strap i would have pulled off the front of my car and would have spent shit tonnes more money on other stuff where i wouldn't have had to. Now i just need to stop driving slow
