sales/retail workers

Recommended Posts

hai guyz.

i work in a bearings/spare parts store, had a customer come into my work not 15 minutes ago...long story short he was extremely rude, tried to haggle me on prices and when i didnt have the part he needed in stock he called me a *milkshake*. so, in retaliation i made him pay 5 times the amount he should have paid for his stupid parts.

got me thinking, how do other people retaliate when customers/general public are rude to you?

Most of the time i'd be so nice i'd seem like a dick.

But in my last week someone complained about the price of petrol.

So i did the 'what has two thumbs and doesn't give a crap'? thing from scrubs, they actually laughed, so i don't know where i am going with this.

I envy you guys.

If i was rude to customers i'd lose my job.

Despite the fact 10/10 times it'd be provoked so i'd be well within my rights to call them a *milkshake* or something

We have the BST tax here at my work, bullshit tax or blood sweat and tears lol, usually charged to the most difficult, rude or overdemanding customers.

Or we just drop em pretty damn quick, since its just not worth the stress of having to put up with rude and offensive clients ^_^

I have upped the brokerage we charge clients when they have gotten difficult...

By the same token I have also dropped the brokerage to basically free for clients that I like...

EDIT: I wait tables some weekends, we had the owners of a shitty little cafe in and they were complete cock smokers...

Basically told me to pour the wine at the table because 'I could be pouring it out of a cask'.

I told him that the reason we pour behind the bar is that we measure portions, so that they get the exact right amount.

He insisted, in a smug, rude fashion, so I made a MASSIVE show of measuring the wine at the table...

I took a photo of the 'were you happy with our service?' form they filled out... I'll try and find it...

:lol::lol:

Bah, people like that really piss me off! Had some guy ringing me up a while ago who would constantly tell me "thats not what my son told me to do when this happens, my son's done an IT degree!"

Sheesh, get him to fix it then, if you dont like the way I'm doing it <_>

'We found it a cold, Heartless place with staff who couldn't give a shit'

I promise that we look after anyone who is anything except a complete tosser... these people were just so full of shit...

I first worked in a Video Store so we would get a heap of late fee complaints. At the time I was only 14-17 so I didn’t really care, I’d just listen to them complain and then get on with my job.

The next job was at a Loan Office in their shop front. I would get all sorts in there. Complaint and a one declined customer threatened to kill me when I went to lunch so she stayed in the front room, needless to say I called the cops. It was normally easy to decline the really rude customers because nearly all of them had a default of some kind so I would just decline them. I had one guy refuse to be served by the Fijian lady I worked with and would only be served by a “white” person. So I told him to get out of the store as I do not tolerate customers talking to my staff like that.

From there I worked in retail… never actually met any difficult customers.

And then lastly I work for a bank…. Yeah well no guess I get a heap of complaints. Once area I worked in took complaints as about 30% of the job. I actually like getting customer complaints or angry customers because half the time their anger is genuine and in their situation I’d be pissed off too. It’s just that sometimes they don’t realise by acting that way most people will end up not helping them. I did have one customer call me a “turd burger”…. I’ve never heard that one before.

I worked in retail for about 4 years at BigW.

I stacked shelves so didn't deal with customers too much but got heaps come up and ask me where things were etc.

One guy came in looking for a certain bike.

So I took him over to the bike section and saw that we didn't have it.

He goes "Fine I'll just go to KMART then!" Says it with a real attitude obviously trying to get a reaction out of me.

So I say Back "I don't care, go to Kmart." and walk off.

Too many customer think that being an asshole will get them what they want. I go out of my way to make things worse for them.

I work at my local fruit and veg store. There are about 5 customers who everyone at my work runs away from because we know they're going to say stupid s**t to try and get us angry. Every time this happens we'll go out back and get whatever they ask for but find the smallest/worst looking/bruised etc one and give it to them. Then when we give it to them we say sorry this is the last one we have....

I setup this script once that brought up a command prompt and looked as though it was doing an audit on someone's computer, copied it to his startup folder.

Kept flashing up with stuff like "Copying Temporary Internet Files to Audit Server..." and then paused for 20 seconds, etc.

^^ :lol::lol: Thats brilliant!

Reminds me of some of the sketchy dudes at one of our clients asking if all the email he sent and recieved was stored anywhere, and just hypothetically, could the police gain access to it?

Haha just reading this reminds me of working tech support for Telstra. Basically as no official complaints exists you can take maybe 20 ot of 50 calls a day as abusive rants. The first common occurence is the users telling you their son is a "computer engineer" and all their equipment has been checked as a basic scare tactic. The second and sometimes the funniest is when they are being told it may be something on their side to which they proclaim "listen I pay a massive amount to you guys and I expect the service I'm paying for". Number one I can see how much you pay and $59.95 a month isnt exactly a mint and secondly the fact that you pay a measly $60 a month you feel that we are now contractually bound to fix anything that may gone wrong in your life. Usually at this point you will get the "im taking you to court" response to which we reply "If thats how you feel then you have every right to pursue that" which usually made them angrier and made me smile.

Meh I have worked in a Retail/Sales environment. If people swear at me I just say to them unfortunately I will not tolerate your swearing and I am now ending this conversation/meeting and hang up/walk out of meeting.

Now swearing at me doesn't worry me in the slighest but when I do this it infuriates the customer. It also shows that I have the control not them.

Customers come and carry on because they need something from you. As soon as you show them you wont take their shit they will generally come grovelling.

Haha another telstra person hey.. I used to work in the corporate faults section before the newcastle centre got closed down.. there was actually a way to log official complaints through questus.. maybe thats why we got stuck logging so many bigpond complaints.. <_ haha>

But yeah always was funny when people said stuff like that, I used to just tell them to go right ahead ^_^

Seems like a standard Telstra reply. Whether that be to the little old lady paying her $15 line rental a month or the ISP paying hundreds of thousands.

I work at a servo and I get people complaining about the price of petrol I normally reply with:

"Yeh I had to put the price up to pay the butler"

or

"Oh its that expensive? I've never been enough of a tighass to notice an extra $3".

Pisses them off pretty well
