going to melbz with a mate to pic up a 32

Recommended Posts

hey all...

heading over melbourne this weekend to have a look at and most likely buy with a mate... he is buying it :(

coilovers, bigger turbo, fuel pump al that shit... i can check.... but what is a common thing that 32's do that you wanna look out for..

ie: ke70 rust in boot and guards...

anything would be helpful... it has a rb20 in it just so you know.

Cheers

Nichy

rev it right out on boost and make sure it doesn't missfire like most RB's do

look for rust just under the filler cap in the wheel arch. also rust anywhere in the wheel arches.

make sure the chassis rails look straight.

rusty water in radiator and more so a stain from coolant or rusty water coming out of over flow bottle.

how well the doors close. if its a 2 door the door hinges slog out and they will close funny and wont line up with other body work.

Apon test drive.

get it warm and boost it. see if it misses. usual cause is stuffed coil packs but can also be igniter modual.

also see if you can hear it knocking? or it may have an air/fuel ratio gauge.

any RB that has ever blown up not long after being brought from the mainland (in cases i know) is faulty fuel pump or fuel system causing them to run lean and blow up.

90% of cases would be lean out.

5% from over heating/ blown head gaskets. which doesnt normally happen to Rb motors.

Make sure you really load it up. like get it real hot then find a southern outlet style hill to drive it hard under boost as that will find all the faults for you.

a quick bang on the limiter at 60km/h wont tell you anything.
