Hi everyone,

I want to buy some wheels for my s15, but am wondering what is the largest wheel size i can fit on a Silvia S15 JDM, without scrapping on my guards or anything else,

as I had a wrx with 18s, and every turn the tyre hits the mud guard or something, hate it.

I am looking to get either 18s, 19s or 20s, that would give my s15 a mean & tough LOOK,, which Brand would do that, currently I have front 17x7 AVS T6, and 18x8 Rays, as one of my avs got buckled so had to change the rears.

Any advice or if you had any past experince with wheel size is much appreciated.

Dude.. it's not just about the diameter of the rim, it is also combination of ride height, wheel width and offset and tire choice. There is no reason a well selected wheel will hit the guards. If your wheels were scrubbing on the WRX then either the wheel/tire choice was wrong or your car was too low. There are a billion threads on wheel fitment. Head over to s15oc and check the massive thread on wheel fitment which includes pictures of how they fit and the specs of the wheels and tires on the car.

My advice is to stick to max of 18's, bigger just = more weight and worse ride with no benefit. If big shiney wheels is what you want then perhaps you have the wrong car.

Currently got stock suspensions, but also got some adjustable coilovers in my garage which i can install anytime.

I am not after shiney wheels, I got AVS T6, i am after simillar wheels but with more tough look and mean, I was wondering if bigger like 20s would make the car looks tougher.. cheers

personally 20 inch is too big, unless your into 'sex spec'... hey whatever floats your boat... just downsized from 19'' to 18'' looks much toucher with better fitment

The concept behind wheel fitment is not understood.


19s will make the car look tougher then with 18s... Yeah okay. Was there any mention of offset or tire size that was before - "Edited by ali_JDM"

i had 20 x 9.5 as you can see in my avatar pic, and to tell you the truth mate its too uncumfortable to drive around everday and you can't get traction with the low profile tyres streched over them in the dry let alone when its wet. my advice is to go with what orphan said and stick to some 18's with some decent rubber to match.

On rimtuck it says what they did to fit the wheels

18x9.5 + 20 and 18x10+15

- Spacers: no
- Fender rolled/pulled: Flared and rolled to suit rims
- Camber:
- Suspension mods: coilovers and all arms
* Tyre 225/40

Unfortunatley it doesnt say how much camber he/she is running.

Fakes are fakes you get what you pay for but yes rota and varrosten rip off te37s.

17 or 18 X9 + 20ish or 17/18 X 10 +30ish all round will sit nice on a S15.

I have 18X9+20 front and 18X10+18 rear.
The rear pokes a fair bit and needs -3 to -4 to tuck tyre on rolled guards.

Every inch will mean that the rim will stick out another 12.7mm and on the inside to the offset of the rim.

The lower the offset, the more desirable in terms of ns rep points. Standard, the S15 has +45 mm of offset which means they are very much tucked into the guards. The higher the offset and width, the more scrub radius. If you want grip, avoid overstretched tyres for a decent sidewall. If it's just looks you want then knock yourself out.

IMO, having 8.5" +30 on the front with 235s (very mild stretch neg 3.5 to neg 4 camber) and having 9.5" on the rear with a similar offset and 265 tyres would my preference with 18" all round with neg 2 to 2.5 camber. All that's needed is some guard rolling and it will only scrub if there isn't enough neg camber or it's too low. For grip that would be a nice setup, IMO it looks tougher than the stretched rim-mexicaned look but others would disagree. I prefer wider tyres myself and the grip that goes with it.

you have to consider the reasons why and the what you are using the car for..

extra low profile tyres= expensive and harsh ride
Massive rims = easy to damage
Large camber = less inline traction and increased tyre wear
Limited steering capacity

If you are ok with those cons of larger rim setups then go for it..

If you are not going to go stupid with it stay with 18's in sensible offsets / widths..

Depends on your alignment. I'm running -3.5 at the front and tyres are wearing nicely. Noticable wear but then you just pop them on the opposing rim (unless you have KU36 or similar tyres).

I can go 18 months until I ned to rotate or change them, that' a daily drive too.

thats what I am after, wheather the 20s will be uncomefortable, i thought s15 would handel bigger sized wheel than wrx..

i wouldnt say 3.5k difference unless youre talking about sl's

a set of rotas is what like 1k - 1.2k?

I sold my set of 17x 9+22 te37s for 2250.

Rims can be any size you want aslong as the rim/tyre combo doesn't exceed the stock rim tyre combo, which just means if you get a bigger rim you get a lower profile tyre.

Can also be as wide as you want asliog as you cant see the top of the rim/tyre when looking down over the guard, which means you either flare or get bigger guards.

Anything over 18" on a import looks gay as shit.
