I dont know what made me wanna do this but i thought it would be good for a bit of fun,

What would you want or expect should be in a next gen sil? (we all know it aint happening anytime soon!)

dont go too far fetched try keep it as realistic as possible, ill start by listing some dream/realisic expections for a new S16
I.M.O it should be :
* be RWD Front engined
* remain a 4cyl turbo
* open to a capacity increrase (SR24VET) around 240kw (if gtr and Z can do it so can we)
* gt2871r turbo or similar* keep weight below 1300kgs-1400kgs
* competition mode traction control and launch control
* 5***** ancap saftey rating(insurance purposes) 6 airbags dynamic stability control that can be switched to competition mode for the track
* still have 4 seat configuration
* 6 speed manual
* 18x9.5 rear &18x9 front wheels
* 4piston front and atleast 2piston rear brakes
* price tag under $50,000 aud
* 8 speaker sound system
* the engine should be mounted behind the strut tower (like s2000)
* digital display water temp , oil pressure, boost, trans temp, fuel consumption, distance till empty,
* buttons on the steering wheel for the stereo, and bluetooth
* i pod capability
* start button with 'smart key'
* h.i.d headlights
* climate control
* classic coupe shape with a bootlid not a hatch
* L.s.d

luxury spec: +$3k

*sunroof
*sat nav
*optional paddle shift/tiptronic auto+$2k
*premium sound 10gig hard drive system 110 speakers inc subwoofer
*digital trip computer,fuel consumption, distance till empty,
*leather seats
*dual zone digital climate control

and also an S-TUNE variant with these extra features

* price tag not exeeding $70,000
* 6piston brembos slotted and cross drilled rotors
* extra chassis bracing
* lighter weight cf bonnet and bootlid
* competition mode traction control that can be switched off
* launch control
* Recaros/ bride seats micro seude(for grip)
* digital display water temp , oil pressure, boost, trans temp,
* basic sound system
* 19x10 rear and 19x9 front semi slick tyres
* front and rear difusers, bob tail spoiler
* beefier lsd and clutch
* different boost settings/ignition/timming(like sti they have 3)
* smaller fuel tank

these variants would be in competition with similarly priced/sized cars such as
priced 40k-75k

wrx/sti
ralliart lancer/evo
vw gti
audi tt, sline a3/a4
renualt clio/megane
rx8/mx5
civic type r
xr6t/typhoon
xr5 focus
ss/ssv/clubsport r8
bmw 120/135
liberty gt
bmw 135i
ect,ect

anyway i encorage photshops (original ones not the crap 's16chops' getting around)
dont flame its just for fun

but it would be cool if nissan actually listend

see how we go

You know when i first read this thread i thought it was just going to be a standard photo post of the pics that might have already been seen like these ones:
Posted ImagePosted Image
But I did a little more research and i came across some more interesting and promising concepts that made my mouth water :D

How about this for a S16?Posted ImagePosted Image
Mouthwatering i think :P

That was one of my favorites but i also saw some of the concepts that were developed earlyer on like these:

What do you guys think? What design is prefered? Something that doesnt stray too far from the S15 design, or something COMPLETELY NEW :DDDDDDDDDDD!?!?!?

always loved the silver one in the second last pic, your chop is a little rice , no wings and vents and crap imo maybe a varyation of the silver one, i would buy that for sure,, they could make it for like 70k an audi tt dsg turbo is like 70 and a hsv clubby is like 70k an sti is like 60k an evo is like 70k

im sure this fictional price tag isnt out of the question???

That is pure porn, keeps the S15 lines with a nice twist....if one of these came out with the features listed in the first post i would sell my Mrs on the corner for the next year to pay for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!

very nice list, however i think that's straying from what the silvia was always meant to be, which is a budget performance car which for people to have FUN in, not set mind blowing lap times out of the box.

the target weight of 1300kg, yet you demand such a hefty sound system AND 10 airbags? dont think so buddy, bit of a contradiction there, but if it were possible, i'd be ALL for it!

i'd prefer a normal manual 6 speed gearbox with a clutch.

if they were to bring out a new s series car, i'd want it to be 'raw', no electronic interference (except abs), better mechanical grip (ie: double wishbone front suspension set up, better suspension geometry). most importantly, light weight.

i dislike where the new generation of sports coupes are going, now im not talking about super cars, im talking about your sub 100k cars that we can all realistically own one day. they're all putting on weight, yet losing power. the era of turbochargers is just about over for this category as we strive for a 'greener' planet, it's a real shame.

That is so true!!! i dont think we will ever see a change to that BUT thats why we modify cars right, to make them how we want!

The essentials:

  • Small capacity (ie. less than 2.2 litre) engine
  • Turbocharged
  • Front-engined
  • RWD
  • LSD
  • Coupe
  • <1300kg

Other requests

  • 5-speed or 6-speed manual gearbox
  • Small front mount intercooler - think like an XR6 turbo?
  • HID headlights
  • Driver and passenger airbags
  • Heads-up display

I reckon all my requests are achievable and would be cheap enough to still remain a budget yet fun sports car, like an S15.

im all about simple cars(hence my s1 s14) but if ever they were to bring out a new model silvia(we all know its unlikley) but it would have to comply with all the ancap saftey standards and the euro 4 emissions laws, and all the brake and traction assistance known to man,

yeah there supose to be cheep and light and simple but every car is heavier now and they are all alot more expensive

a civic is like 1400kgs now coz of all the saftey equipment,

for the sake of the thread lets just keep dreaming and list some suggestions that are although fictional but still realistic in the modern era

This is incredibly hot! However, does anyone else think it looks slightly like a new aged fd crossed with an s15?

Thats probably why i like it cause i love FD's

I personally thought it had a bit of AMG merc look in the rear guards and wheels

Either way it still looks very hot IMO

yeah HIDs ! then i can drive with my lights on during the day like the bmws and even with highbeams on like the 4wd bmws!!

if an s16 came out i doubt id buy it. i like the squarness of the s13 front. its all about curves now :( and those triangle headlights that all cars have now. i like my headlights to be at the front of the car not sweep up my bonnet

+1 for headlights out in front an s15 has some angles and theyre sexy so something distinct in the shape is good

i assume he means an engine bay with only the essentials in it, not full of plastic crap that makes it so hard to get to the simplest things... (like your old school cars ;))
